Redskins release Portis
The Washington Redskins have announced that they have released veteran running back Clinton Portis.
Portis has struggled to play through injuries the past few seasons and is on the downside of his career.
The Redskins still think Portis can be a quality player, but simply can’t justify the money he is currently making.
The decision means that the Redskins do not have a known quantity at running back, so look for them to be aggressive in free agency.
Willis McGahee could be cut by the Ravens, and would probably be intrigued by the chance to become a starter again and not even have to sell his house.
